    • Will students be allowed to carry and use hand sanitizer on the bus?

      As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, school districts will have the authority to install hand sanitizer dispensers on buses as well as allow students and district staff to have personal-size quantities while aboard the bus.

      Please see this memo from the State Education Department providing updated direction about the presence and use of hand sanitizer on school buses during the pandemic.

    • How many children will ride on one bus?

      Students will be seated 1-2 children per seat, siblings will be seated together, there could be as many as 44 students on the bus.

    • Will the amount of time students are on buses differ from last year?

      The times will vary depending on routes. Ride times in general will be shorter since less students are being transported.

    • Will students be required to wear masks on the bus?

      Yes, all students, drivers and monitors will be required to wear a mask, unless exempted for health reasons.

    • Who will ensure children wear masks and sit appropriately on the bus?

      Waverly and vans have bus monitors who will be able to assist. We are looking at adding bus monitors to Greenvale and Anne Hutchinson buses to assist with this.

    • How frequently will buses be sanitized between groups of schools/children?

      High contact surfaces will be cleaned after the morning route (seats, handrails). The entire vehicle will be cleaned and disinfected at the end of each day.

    • Will children be able to talk on the bus or will they be forced to remain silent?

      Children will be able to talk to each other on the bus.

      The target date is August 28th.

      No.

    • Will you have bus drivers and monitor tested before school start and every 15 days?

      No, but all drivers and monitors will be required to complete a self-health assessment daily.

    • Are buses being used for Eastchester shared with other local districts?

      In-district public schools are not shared. Out-of-district special education, private and parochial may be.

    • How will substitute bus drivers be handled/screened?

      As will regular drivers, there will be check-in forms for employees who will self-assess.

    • If a parent decides not to utilize bus service this year, can we utilize normal service next year?

      Yes, if they are eligible for transportation and want to ride, there will be a place on the bus.

    • How about transportation to outside district schools?

      Posted by:

      Transportation to out-of-district schools will be handled the same as in-district buses. Students who attend out-of-district special education/private/parochial schools will be transported on the days their school is open. SW BOCES will handle routing and parent contacts as usual.

    • What are the start and ending times for Waverly? How will this affect the bus schedules?

      The times have not changed at any of the elementary schools, but routes may vary from prior years.

    • Will transportation be provided for after care? Example Waverly to EASY program at Ann Hutch?

      Yes, as long as a written request was received by the extended May 9th deadline or if there is room on an existing bus.

    • Will there be a late bus from MS/HS for students who participate in after school clubs?

      There are no after school activities right now but when there are, we will have a late bus.

    • Will friends be able to get on another friend’s bus?

      No, students may only get on their assigned bus.

    • Could my high school student occasionally take the bus, depending on personal factors or weather?

      Yes, if they are eligible for transportation, and want to ride, there will be a place on the bus.

      No, ineligible students may not ride.
