As the weather dipped into the 60s this weekend, it is really starting to feel like the first day of school. We are excited to welcome back all of our students and families on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. I hope that you all had an amazing summer filled with time to rejuvenate and catch up with friends and family.

Ongoing Monitoring

As school begins, we will be closely monitoring our updated arrival and dismissal procedures at each of our school buildings. District admin will meet regularly with the Eastchester Police Department and Town Highway Department personnel to make needed adjustments and/or update procedures as appropriate. It is truly an ongoing community effort in learning new traffic routines as we begin this school year - and I thank you in advance on behalf of the entire district for your cooperation and support.

ESY and Summer School

Over the summer months, our school district is busy hosting summer programming and preparing for the upcoming school year. It is always a pleasure to celebrate a successful end to ESY programming and Summer School in mid-August. And this can only be accomplished because of our committed educators and students who dedicate time over the summer to keep on trekking with teaching and learning.

Facilities Upgrades

Our facilities and custodial teams have been busy at work seeing through our ongoing capital projects construction at Greenvale, EMS, and Waverly; Work quickly and diligently throughout each of our buildings to complete their annual deep clean to make our buildings sparkle when students return; and this summer, they worked on parking lot improvements that have been on our sights but were made possible this summer with some of our State Emergency Funds.

A Strong Focus on a Successful Start to the School Year

Our faculty and staff were engaged in professional learning this week and last to set our intentions and begin the year with purpose and focus. We focused on what it means to truly enact our vision of Four Campuses, Four Pillars, One Vision, Elevate Eastchester. From New Teacher Orientation, to the Administrative Retreat, Convocation and this week’s Superintendent's Conference Days, our committed team of faculty are getting ready in every possible way to receive our students and families for another tremendous year of learning, growing, and innovating.

A Collaborative Effort by the EUFSD, Town of Eastchester, Eastchester Police Department and Village of Tuckahoe

It has really been a team effort working with the Town of Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. The Eastchester Highway Department, Village of Tuckahoe and the Town of Eastchester partners continue to engage in road painting and signage to support our schools. A tremendous effort all around.

From striping of crosswalks up and down Lincoln Avenue, up Maple, by Tudor & Garth, Wilmot and Webster, and posting signs at Ann Place - other key roads, and talking with organizations engaged in construction (ConEd, etc) there is no shortage of what our community has rallied around to do in preparation for the start of school this year. And, as mentioned, each and every team here is willing to adjust once the school year begins if there is an area of need that arises or original plans need some tweaking.

IMPORTANT Friendly Reminders to Support a Safe Return to School

e-Bikes and e-Scooters

Please note that e-Bikes and e-Scooters are not permitted on school property at any time. As per Town of Eastchester policy, electronic vehicles are illegal for persons under the age of 16. And as per school regulations and due to safety requirements, electronic vehicles are not allowed on school property at any time. 

Please note that if your child brings an electronic vehicle to school, it will be tagged and held with a School Resource Office (SRO) and/or school administration. Parents/guardians will be required to come to the school and pick up their child’s electronic vehicle as students will not be permitted to ride them home once they have been on school property.

We thank you in advance for adhering to the district’s procedures surrounding electric vehicles. And we thank our Eastchester Police Department and Town of Eastchester for their collaborative efforts in ensuring a safe commute for all age groups each day.

Regular 2-wheel bicycles and storage racks

Students are permitted to bring non-electronic bicycles to school. Bicycle racks will be made available during the second week of school for students to utilize. It is imperative that students come equipped with a sturdy bike lock mechanism so their bicycle is securely stowed. Students should not leave their bike unattended at a bike rack without a lock. Students under the age of 14 are required to wear a helmet by law and students of all ages are strongly encouraged to wear a helmet.

Pilot: Early Dropoff & Late Pickup                                                               

Reminder: The Early Dropoff & Late Pickup Pilot DOES NOT replace ‘Right At School’ childcare.

Based on feedback from families, EUFSD elementary schools will be piloting an early drop off and pick up at Waverly, AH, and Greenvale for the first month of school. In an effort to provide families who periodically need additional time at the start and end of the school day to pick up their child from school, parents/guardians will now be able to drop their children off at school up to 25 minutes before the bell rings and pick up their students 25 minutes after the end of the day school bell rings if they need a little extra cushion to drop off/pick up their child.

When can I drop off my child for the new pilot?
Reminder: In order to utilize the pilot of early and late pick/drop off, families must stay within the following time frames. If a family needs longer than the pilot hours, parents will be directed to Right At School Childcare.

We will monitor how many families require this assistance throughout the month of September to determine if we will continue the extended hours for the remainder of the year.

During early and late pick up, students will be supervised on school premises (gym, blacktop outside, etc) within the pilot timeframes listed above.

Parents/guardians who require daily childcare or believe they will need to drop students off more than 25 minutes before the start of the school day or pick them up more than 25 minutes after dismissal are encouraged to utilize Right at School childcare.

6-12 Breakfast & Library Hours

           

 EHS

• 7:15 AM EHS Library opens for students to study and complete homework before school.

• 7:15 AM Cafeteria opens and breakfast service begins.

• 3:00 PM EHS Fitness Center opens for student use (typically open 4 days per week - Strength and Conditioning Coach will notify students of hours once school year begins).

• 4:00PM EHS Library Closes.

EMS

• 7:15 AM  EMS Library opens for students to study and complete homework before

• 7:15 AM Cafeteria opens and breakfast service begins.

• During EMS lunch periods (20-25 spots) - Library opens for students to study

• 4:00 PM EMS Library Closes.
  
  Walkers To and From School Permission 
  Many school districts allow for students in grades two (2) and up to walk home unaccompanied. AH and GV parents at the grades 2-5 level now have the option to allow their child to walk home from school. A permission form has been sent out by each building via their welcome letters. If a family determines their child will walk home, they must complete the permission form/waiver. Thank you.
