A Message from Dr. Villanueva: Reflecting on the events of 9/11

A Message from Dr. Villanueva: Reflecting on the events of 9/11

Dear Eastchester, faculty, families and community,

Today, many of us may be remembering the events of September 11, 2001.

25 years later, it’s impossible to forget exactly where you were and what you were doing when the news broke.

Each year, in the town where I live, I hear a deep rumble that radiates from the bottom of my feet up to the top of my house as hundreds of motorcyclists ride along our streets to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11 and to honor those whose selfless acts of heroism still resonate a quarter-century later. As they pass through, my family and I can feel the ground shake beneath our feet as we stand, watch, and remember, even if for just a few minutes.

I hope that you find a few moments today to remember the bravery of anyone who was in uniform and in service to our city and nation that day. I also hope that you have quiet moments to reflect on (and with) the family, friends, students (past and present), and neighbors who were impacted on that day, the journey that followed after the events, and the peace we work so hard to hang on to each day as a nation.

Always with kindness,

Dr. Villanueva

Community Feedback and Continued Review for Adjustments

I would like to thank all of the families who have sent in feedback regarding specific locations in and around town for us to review. Your feedback allows us to make plans and consider how we can make adjustments within the resources available to us.

Recent Update

A sign has been posted at the Lord and Taylor exit onto Wilmot Road that now marks “no right on red between 7:30 to 8:30 AM and 3 to 4 PM”. After hearing from community members, regarding cars, turning left, EPD moved quickly to post the sign.

The Town, our facilities department and EPD will continue to work on the many suggestions and requests made by our families to the best of our ability.

Back to School Nights and Open Houses
