A Message from Dr. Villanueva: Student Milestones Coming Up!

Dear Eastchester Faculty, Families, and Community,

The final days of the year are upon us and we are excited to focus on the many celebrations that lie ahead. Over the next week, our schools will be busy with moving-up ceremonies, each one providing an opportunity to celebrate the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our students and staff.

These end-of-year events also give us a chance to reflect on a successful school year and recognize the collective efforts of our students, families, faculty, staff, and administrators. We are proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the support that makes Eastchester such a special community.

As we celebrate these milestones, we look forward to finishing the year on a positive note and beginning preparations for the 2026 - 2027 school year. The Eastchester School District remains committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities while keeping students at the center of every decision we make. We are grateful for the partnership of our community and look ahead with optimism, excitement, and confidence in the future of Eastchester.

Bus Transportation Information

 

Since Tuesday evening, many families have reached out with questions about anticipated 2026-2027 transportation adjustments now that the mileage standards have been updated for our district. 

 

As we continue to gather and solidify more information, we are committed to providing updates regularly so that our families can plan for next year. Please see below for the most up-to-date information on transportation below. A link for those interested in being added to the transportation appeal form is included below.

 

Step 1

To determine if you are eligible for transportation in 2026-2027, please click here to use the Transportation Widget also posted on the main district website to find out.

 

Step 2 (if applicable)

In an effort to gauge how many families, who are currently not eligible for transportation based on the adjusted mileage, would like to be added to the 'transportation waitlist', although families who are not currently eligible cannot be guaranteed transportation, please complete the transportation appeal form below. The Eastchester district is committed to assigning 'open/empty' seats to families who would like transportation but are not eligible with the adjusted mileage.

 

In addition, we will be providing information to families regarding 'other' means of getting to school and child care to assist students with before and after care needs.

What Families Can Expect This Summer

1. (Currently) Building Bus Routes: 

The district is currently working on routing for all eligible transportation based on their current mileage from each respective school. 

 

2. Share Family Support Resources (Early July)

Information on 'Early Drop Off and Late Pick Up by EUFSD'; 'The Walking School Bus'; Carpool Connections (if available); Right at School; Childcare options in the local area; will be sent out to all families and posted on the main website.

 

3. Provide an Opportunity to Opt Out of Transportation (End of July)

As soon as routing is complete for all eligible students, a waiver request will be sent to families who would like to 'opt out' of transportation in the 26-27 school year, which will in turn potentially open up seats. 

 

4. Review Transportation Appeals and Available Seating (Ongoing)

As soon as all opt-outs are collected and confirmed, the transportation office will begin assigning open/available seats to families on the transportation appeal form based on their current mileage from their assigned school. Open seats, if available, will be provided to families on the appeal list beginning with those farthest away for each bus route. 

 

And, as more information becomes available and solidified, an update will be provided to the community directly.
