Safety, Security and Emergency Management at Eastchester Schools
-
Safety is our number one priority.
A culture rich in physical and emotional safety is a prerequisite to a world-class education. Eastchester UFSD employs a comprehensive strategy to ensure each of our school communities remain safe and secure. The district has the following measures in place:
- A comprehensive Safety, Security and Emergency Management Plan (DERT)
- A comprehensive Building Emergency Response Plan (BERT) is in place at each school
- Partnership with Altaris Consulting Group to establish and maintain state-of-the-art procedures and practices
- A District Emergency Management Team that meets monthly to enact an action plan for safety and security improvement opportunities
- A District Safety Team that meets quarterly to identify improvement opportunities
- Trained security guards at each school building, many with prior law enforcement or military experience
- Regular emergency drills conducted and logged at each school site
- A newly standardized and robust visitor registration system at each school site
- Employment of a School Resourse Officer (SRO) to build relationships with local law enforcement and promote a culture of safety with the school community
- Employment of a District Safety, Security and Emergency Management Coordinator to oversee, implement and continuously improve our comprehensive security protocols
