Decked out in their finest threads, members of the Eastchester High School Class of 2024 hit the runway last Thursday night, as they took part in the 29th Annual EHS Senior Fashion Show at the Surf Club in New Rochelle. 

Over the course of nearly 30 years, the annual Senior Fashion show has become one of the most anticipated events on the Eastchester calendar, and, as evidenced by the 400 tickets sold, that enthusiasm shows no signs of waning. 

The event—the only fundraiser put on by the EHS PTA during the year—collected proceeds both from ticket sales and from popular gift basket raffles which saw curated collections of goods and services—donated by community members and local businesses—given out as prizes. The prizes ranged from free tickets to see EHS performing troupes such as Jazz Co., to gift certificates for local eateries, Eastchester apparel, spa packages and more.

Valerie Quinn, who chaired the event alongside Eastchester School Board Trustee Christie McCloskey, commented on the success of the evening, thanking the students, parents and local vendors who made the fashion show a success

“There was a lot of work that went into this,” said Quinn. “But being there that night, seeing it come together and seeing everyone from the kids to their parents and friends of parents enjoying themselves, it was so rewarding,” 

EHS EGO President Ryan Reilly was effusive in his description of the event, noting that even though he knew about the longstanding Eastchester tradition, he was somewhat unprepared for just how thrilling the night would be.

“I can say without a doubt this was one of my favorite memories from high school.The music was great, the audience was supportive and the environment was electric,” said Reilly. “I wish I knew how amazing this event was so I could have been even more excited for it, but underclassmen should definitely be sure not to miss out because it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Reilly said that the huge student turnout—192 students served as models, and the night also featured performances from the EHS Jazz Band and dazzling centerpieces made by EHS National Art Honor Society members —affirmed the senior class’s commitment to each other. Additionally, the involvement of parents and local business owners provided students with a sense of how supportive the community is of the district and its students.

“The fashion show really brought our whole senior class together, as we were able to support and cheer each other on,” he said. “Not only did it bring the students together, but there was a massive turnout from the Eastchester parents, bringing together the community as a whole.”
